Andy WarholThe American artist Andy Warhol was born on 6th August, 1928 in Pittsburgh. Already in his childhood he discovered his passion for comics and films. 1945 to 1949 he studied picture design in the Carnegie institutes of Technology in Pittsburgh. Then he worked as an illustrator and industrial designer in New York. From 1960 Andy Warhol paintings created after the pattern of Comicstripes and cartoons. He discovered, as a key figure of the pop art the icons of the consumption world and advertising world, dollar notes, Coca Cola bottles and Campbell tins, as motives of his works. In his New York "Factory" countless photographs and films originated beside portraits of important personalities. Andy Warhol turned to the music, the organisation of variety shows and multimedia concerts. With "interview" he founded the first lifestyle magazine. In 1968 Andy Warhol took part in "documenta". In the same year he was injured with an attempt. Then he dived into the New York party scene and marketed his name. Andy Warhol died on the 22nd February, 1987 in New York. |
