Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero was born on the 19th April, 1932 in Medellín, a columbian provincial centre.

Already as a 12-year-old Fernando Botero found out hisove to painting.

On account of his talent, Fernando Botero could contribute a small part to the living of his family which lived in rather modest relations. He was proved as a designer and illustrator and put his works in Medellín to the exhibition at the age of 16 years.

Only some years later Fernando Botero, after a short stay in Bogota he went to Europe.

Since end of the 70s Fernando Botero devoted himself more and more to the sculptures and sculptural figures.

Today his art style is world-renowned and the representation of his works and sculptures reflects own kind of aesthetics again. In his works the people which correspond in the normal life rather to the beauty ideal of the today's time are shown thickly and shapelessly.

In 2006 Fernando Botero excited big sensation with the paintings which drew the attention to the scandal of torture in an infamous Iraqi prison.
