Repropix Featured on Redfin: How to Choose the Right Real Estate Photographer

Your buyer decides in the scroll. Before they read the description or check the price history, they’ve already judged the home by its photos: bright or dim, easy to picture or confusing, worth a showing or not.

That’s why Redfin asked real estate media professionals one question: how should agents and sellers choose the right photographer? Repropix was one of the experts featured.

Here’s the advice we shared:

“Don’t judge a photographer by their best single image. Judge them by their consistency across a full gallery, because your listing lives or dies on the whole set, not just the hero shot. Ask about turnaround time in writing; a stunning photo delivered three days late has already cost you the first weekend a listing is live. Look for someone who shoots with natural light rather than harsh flash, so the home looks like a home instead of a showroom. And pay attention to how they communicate before you’ve paid them, as responsiveness during the quote is the best predictor of how they’ll treat you on deadline.”

What that means for your next listing

Buyers don’t see your photographer’s portfolio. They see your listing, all of it: the hallway, the second bathroom, the laundry room. One beautiful kitchen shot can’t carry a gallery where the rest of the home looks dark or confusing. Ask any photographer for two or three complete recent galleries, not their highlights. Timing is money. In a competitive Chicago-area market, from Naperville to Wilmette, a listing that goes live Thursday with photos arriving Monday has already lost its first weekend of showings. Get the delivery time in writing before you book.

And the photos should match the house. When a buyer walks in and the rooms feel exactly like they did on screen, trust holds. When they don’t, the showing starts with doubt.
